Vezer continued: "Last year, the students built and competed in the Botball Robotics Tournament and placed sixth overall. ![]() They began preparing for their judging sessions in October," Vezer wrote in an email. "The students began building, programming and testing their robotics in September. This is the second year Vezer has coached the club. Led by teacher Adam Vezer, the club is made up of all middle school grade levels. High Voltage Team members include Riley Harpel, Conor Kiernan, Robby Ladabouche, Alyssa Long, Mario Martemucci, Daniel Norris and Josh Rattel. They are in contention, with only four other teams, for a wildcard spot. The High Voltage Team placed first in the competition in the Robot Design category and scored the most points in the Robot Performance category. Team Brobots members include Jessa Bradley, Jordan Braxton, Rodney Garner, Dustin Kimmett, Kenneth Peterka, Joseph Ramspacher, Isabella Scott, Michael Shahan and Briana White. Though the team had the third most points in the Robot Performance category, its team robot was the only one to complete the challenge and stay balanced on a platform at the end of its final round. Team Brobots were one of only four teams from the qualifier to advance to the state tournament. And they came home with a win that will send them back to compete at the state level. For the first time, the Old Mill Middle School South Robotics Club recently participated in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Tournament regional qualifying match at Anne Arundel Community College.
